Top Car: Mercedes-Benz UK has recorded its best-ever new car registrations market share according to year-end figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
With passenger cars achieving a record-breaking 4.5%market share by the end of 2012 – our strongest result ever – Mercedes-Benz is now officially the fastest growing premium brand in the UK.
While the record year was led by spectacular performances from core models including the C-Class Coupé, SLK-Class, E-Class Cabriolet, CLS-Class Coupé and S-Class, the AMG performance division also set new records. AMG posted its best ever year in the UK with registrations rising by 119%, making it the fastest growing performance brand in the UK.
In addition to this, the S-Class finished 2012 as the UK’s Number One luxury car, capturing a substantial 30.5% share of its segment.
In total, Mercedes-Benz UK registered 91,006 cars in 2012, outperforming the overall new car market, making it one of the most successful years ever recorded.
Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles also recorded significant rises in new registrations, with the new Actros truck achieving 2,201 registrations in its first year, and the Sprinter and Vito each continuing to outperform the market with 7.8% and 15.1% gains respectively.
